How to Treat Pressure Ulcers (Bedsores) at Home

How to Treat Pressure Ulcers (Bedsores) at Home – Beyond Pharmacy guide

Bedsores form fast on bedridden patients but are largely preventable. Here's how to recognise stages, dress them correctly, and stop them coming back.

Know the stages

Stage I: non-blanching redness on intact skin. Stage II: shallow open wound/blister. Stage III–IV: deeper loss into fat/muscle. Early action at Stage I–II prevents most serious wounds.

Which dressings to use

Hydrocolloids are the home-care workhorse: DuoDERM Extra Thin protects at-risk or Stage I–II skin; DuoDERM CGF manages deeper, more exuding Stage II–IV ulcers. They stay on for days and remove with little trauma.

Prevent the next one

Seek a clinician for large, deep, or infected wounds.
