Product description

The Bactiguard BIP Foley Catheter 14Fr is an indwelling urinary catheter featuring Bactiguard's patented infection-protection coating — an ultra-thin, firmly bonded noble-metal alloy of gold, silver and palladium applied to both the inner and outer catheter surfaces.

On contact with urine, the alloy creates a galvanic micro-current that reduces microbial adhesion and biofilm formation, the primary driver of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI). A large randomized multicentre study in India (2021, 1,000 patients) demonstrated a 69% reduction in CAUTI risk versus standard catheters.

The soft, flexible latex construction is designed for patient comfort, while an additional hydrophilic coating reduces insertion and removal friction. The coating releases no antibiotics or pharmacological substances, making it tissue-friendly with an extensive safety record across hundreds of millions of coated devices.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Bactiguard coating reduce infection?
The thin gold/silver/palladium alloy creates a galvanic effect in urine that lowers microbial adhesion and biofilm formation on the catheter surface — without releasing antibiotics or active drugs.
How long can the catheter stay in place?
The Bactiguard Foley catheter is approved for transurethral and suprapubic use for up to 90 days, subject to clinical assessment.
Is this latex catheter safe for sensitive patients?
The coating is non-releasing and tissue-friendly. As the base is latex, it is not suitable for patients with a known latex allergy — a silicone variant may be considered instead.
Do you supply to hospitals and exporters?
Yes. Beyond Pharmacy (Khera Enterprises) is a licensed retail and wholesale pharmacy supplying hospitals across India with export enquiries welcome.
